A candidate for admission to the Ph.D programme must have obtained any one of the following academic qualifications in the discipline of research or a subject allied thereto (the alliance will be decided by the Academic Council on the recommendation of the respective Board of Studies) at the Master’s degree (M.Tech/M.E., MBA, MCA, M.A, M.Sc., etc. other than M.Phil) level from a recognized University:

(i) At least 60% marks with First class or equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level;

(ii) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level followed by the degree of M.Phil with course work.

(iii) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level with at least three years teaching experience in the subject concerned in a recognized College/University/Institute;

OR

At least three years experience on supervisory executive positions in Industry/business house.

(iv) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level and the candidate has also qualified the UGC/CSIR-NET, GATE, SLET etc.

(v) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level if the candidate has been selected as Junior/Senior Research Fellow in a research project sanctioned by UGC, CSIR, ICSSR or any other govt. body to the University or its Institutes.

(vi) In the case of NRI/Foreign candidates, at least 55% marks in the qualifying examinations of Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline. However, the candidates, who have passed the qualifying examinations from any foreign University, will have to submit equivalence certificates from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

Eligibility: A) Minimum Qualifications for Eligibility

A candidate for admission to the Ph.D. programme must have obtained any of the following academic qualifications in the relevant discipline of research:-

(i) has passed MD/MS/PG Diploma/ M.Sc. Medical (3 years course - Faculty of Medical Sciences) in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Pharmacology from the Colleges/Institutes recognized by the Regulating Body provided that the candidate with M.Sc. (Medical) of 3-years course must have passed the same with at least 60% marks.

(ii) has been awarded fellowship by the UGC/NCERT/ICMR/NET/ DBT or any other national scholarship awarding agency with educational qualifications as in 3.1 (i) above with at least 55% marks.

(iii) has been working as a permanent teaching faculty in any recognized by Bharath University/Institution or as a researcher in National/State level Institute/Research and Development (R&D) Laboratory for the last at least three years with educational qualifications as in 3.1 (i) above with at least 55% marks.

(iv) In the case of NRI/Foreign candidates, they are required to have passed in the qualifying examinations of MD/MS/P.G. Diploma in the relevant subjects. The candidates of M.Sc. (Medical) are required at least 55% marks in the qualifying examination. However, the candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination from any foreign University, will have to submit equivalence certificates from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

(v) However, a candidate with M.Sc. from Science Faculty and having Teaching/Laboratory and research experience of five years as Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer/Tutor/Demonstrator/ Biochemist in a Medical College would be eligible for registration for Ph.D.(Medical & Dental) in the subject of Bio-Chemistry, Microbiology, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Radiology, under Medical Faculty.

(vi) The number of registration in a subject for postgraduate courses shall not exceed the number approved by MCI. The ratio of recognized postgraduate teacher to the number of students to be admitted for the Ph.D courses shall be 1:1 in a unit per year, to the extent that under no circumstances more than two students for degree and one for diploma shall be registered in a unit in one academic year.

Delhi University has invited applications for admission to the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctoral (Ph.D) Programmes in Education, offered both in a full-time and a part-time mode.

M.Phil:-
Eligibility Conditions for Full-time Candidates:
i) The minimum qualifications for admission to the MPhil (Full-time) Programme shall be a Master's Degree of an Indian University or an equivalent degree of a foreign university, in Education, or an allied subject with a high Second Class i.e., minimum of 55% marks in the aggregate or an equivalent grade.

Eligibility Conditions for Part-time Candidates:
i) The minimum qualifications for admission to the MPhil (Part-time) Programme shall be a Master's Degree of an Indian University, or an equivalent degree of a foreign university, in Education or an allied subject, with a high Second Class i.e., minimum of 55% marks in the aggregate or an equivalent grade. ii) Preference will be given to candidates having experience of working as educational practitioners.

Ph.D:-
Conditions of Eligibility and Process of Selection:
To be eligible for admission to the PhD programme, a candidate must have obtained a Master’s or an MPhil degree of the University of Delhi, or any other recognized University, or any degree recognized as equivalent in the subject in which the candidate wishes to pursue a course of research, or in an allied subject. She/he must have obtained either a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grading in the MPhil degree or a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grading in the Master’s degree. Students having fellowships and/or scholarships instituted by the University, national and international agencies under schemes approved/and recognized by the University of Delhi, through procedures laid down by the University, may be registered provisionally by the Departmental Research Committee (DRC) and Board of Research Studies.

How to deposit Application fee : Application Fee may be deposited in Cash in C. U. Cash Counter either at Rajabazar Science College campus, 92 A. P. C. Road, Kolkata 700009 or at College Street Campus, 87/1 College Street, Kolkata 700073 or Ballygunge Science College Campus, 35, B.C. Road, Kolkata – 700019 between 11.00 A.M. to 2.30 P.M. in all working days. Alternatively Application Fee may be deposited through bank Demand Draft in favour of “Calcutta University” payable at Kolkata.

Submission of Application Form (Sl. No.1-17) at Secretary Office, Calcutta University, 92, A.P.C. Rd, Kolkata-700009 and (Sl . No.18) at Department of Jute and Fibre Technology, IJT, C.U., 35, B.C. Road, Kolkata - 700019 between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. on all working days (except Saturday, Sunday and Holidays).
